We have been working with Matzu on this print for quite some time, and much like his previous print, Mr. Alpha mixes digital printing, screenprinting, and hand finishing.
We're very happy with the resulting print, well worth the wait, and we are excited for this release.

On Saturday, May 5th at 3:00pm, there w...ill be a panel discussion at Frey Norris with artist Tomokazu Matsuyama and Jagannath Panda; gallerist Peter Nagy of Nature Morte, New Delhi; Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Cristin McKnight Sethi and moderator Raman Frey. The event is free and open to the public.

East Weets Mest, an exhibition of new paintings, installation and sculpture by the New York-based Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama. Matsuyama's wildly colorful art relocates traditional Japanese icons and imagery into a broader international mix of styles, signs, and symbols. The spoonerism of the show's title, East Weets Mest, playfully mimics this relocation and subsequent homogenization of cultural material, which Matsuyama identifies as a key force in contemporary life. "Urban centers are becoming increasingly familiar, with their patchwork of intermingling cultural signifiers," says the artist. "This chaotic mix has become the everyday, where traditions and local signifiers dissolve into one another to make a unique new shape of today's culture."

Art Dubai is the largest and most established contemporary art fair in the Middle East, taking place every year in March at the Madinat Jumeriah, Dubai. The fair is held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and is owned and run in partnership with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
